November this year will see 30 years since Anthony's Car & Head Centre began offering its quality service to the Bega community. Proprietors Anthony and Kathy Dack moved to the region from Campbelltown in order to give their family a country upbringing, and decided to have a go at running their own business too.
"I have been involved in the automotive industry since 1977 and worked for Volvo up until 1989 when we moved to the Bega Valley," Anthony said. "I am very involved in the industry on many levels." Anthony's Car & Head Centre has a number of staff, all of whom are dedicated to their trade, hardworking and contentious. A commitment to ongoing learning is a key factor.
"Our dedication to training in an ever-changing industry is high on the agenda," he said. "We spend considerable time travelling to training as well as in-house training. To help us with the variety of vehicles and their problems we are in over seven different networking groups that require time and commitment."

Anthony and Kathy said it was important to seek professional help when it comes to cars. "The technical aspect of vehicles today requires us to invest in a number of different tools costing tens of thousands of dollars," they said. "No one scan tool can interrogate every car, so we have to own a number of them. They cost up to $1200 each to maintain each year. So they do come at a cost."
The locals with a long history in the area run their business in an honest, caring and considerate way. "We care about our customers, as well as their vehicles," they said.
