The news was announced in a statement on the Australian Stock Exchange posted on Wednesday, February 27.
It stated some staff would be offered employment elsewhere, but there would be redundancies.
"The decision to close the site was made following a review of our network which concluded that the Coburg site's capacity and city location cannot viably support Bega's expected future growth," the statement reads.
The Melbourne facility was acquired by Bega Cheese in 2009.
