On Monday, instigator Marie Smith and others were “yarn bombing” trees, benches and an old plough at the Bega Showground in preparation for the show – covering them in strips of knitted wool.
“It’s popular all around the world, really,” Ms Smith said of “yarn bombing”.
“You see some beautiful trees and garden benches and things.”
At the show, the group will put up a list encouraging people to find all the knitted items they will leave around the showground – mice, lady beetles, flowers, an apple with a worm in it and more.
Ms Smith said the reason they were “yarn bombing” was just for a bit of fun.
“It will be colourful and creates a bit of interest,” she said.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re a good or bad knitter, as long as you can knit a strip.”
The Bega Show will be on Friday, February 15 to Sunday, 17.
