The annual Bega Show will feature two events that celebrate the contribution of thoroughbreds in the equestrian community.
The first will be an official Off The Track (OTT) Qualifying event.
The event will be held immediately after the Hack classes on Saturday and the winner will be eligible to compete in the Supreme Ridden Horse of the Show. The winner of the class will also gain automatic entry into the OTT Series Final.
The 2019 State Final will be held at the Southern Cross Show Horse Spectacular in 2020.
Sapphire Coast Turf Club will be sponsoring the event with an official presentation rug and sash awarded to the event winner. This is in recognition of the many retired racehorses and purpose bred thoroughbreds in the ACT and NSW succeeding in their post racing lives as show horses.
The show will also offer a High Point Score in the showjumping ring to recognise the Far South Coast’s many successful thoroughbred show jumpers.
Eligible thoroughbreds can register for free at the beginning of the show. They will accumulate points for all jumping events they compete in with the Highest Point Scorer receiving the rug and sash.
Joseph Jones Racing will support the point score event.
The spokeswoman said this was a great boost to the show program.
“Please let all you friends know about this wonderful addition,” she said.
