“There is a case to be made for a fair go,” Mr Shorten said.
ACM mastheads on the South and Far South Coast, including the Bega District News, have been campaigning for an 80-20 funding agreement between NSW and the federal government since March 2018.
In December, Batemans Bay Post editor Kerrie O’Connor and South Coast Register editor John Hanscombe secured a bi-partisan statement of support for a safer highway from Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack and Shadow infrastructure spokesman Anthony Albanese.
Mr McCormack toured sections of the highway later that month.

Eden-Monaro MP Mike Kelly also responded, flagging what he claimed were Labor’s commitments to improvements at Victoria Creek and Dignams Creek “pinch points”, later completed during the NSW Liberals’ time in office.
