A spider-infested telephone booth along Tura Beach Drive, Tura Beach, recently grabbed the attention of a concerned resident who said he would call Telstra to complain except he was too nervous to use the phone inside the booth.

“The red back spiders are some of the biggest I have ever seen,” he said. 

According to Telstra, the booth was cleaned recently on January 29. On Tuesday, February 5, it seemed as though the booth had been fumigated, yet the remains of the spiders, their eggs and webs were still prevalent. 

Telstra said the phone booth will be cleaned again within a week. The company said, depending on the area,  booths are cleaned and maintained on a monthly basis.
