A couple of fires started by lightning strikes have already been “dealt with pretty easily” according to RFS Far South Coast superintendent John Cullen Wednesday morning.
However, all residents are urged to be vigilant and report anything they see out of the ordinary over coming days.
“With all that activity last night we can expect to see more fires,” Mr Cullen said.
“We also got a lot of rain which will help – we got 20mL at Bemboka which was beautiful. But with that amount of lightning, things could show up at anytime. A smouldering limb or stump could then flare up when conditions change.”

Then between 5.30 and 5.50am a further 11.2mL fell.
According to Weatherzone, all of Merimbula’s 11.2mL feel prior to 7am
