Bega District News sports reporter Jake McMaster had to do a double take after seeing a familiar rider making a familiar hand gesture to the camera on Saturday afternoon.
The rider, who was among some of the quickest riders on the day shot the same pose as he had done in 2018.
He was even heard cheerfully shouting “Round two, mate!” before riding off on the final stretch of road to the Tathra Surf Life Saving Club.
The light-hearted joke was among many riders who go past in good spirits, often giving a thumbs up, a wave, or even popping a wheelie.
Officials said they were delighted with the response to this year’s ride where 133 took part.
The numbers were about 20 up on last year and officials were happy to report there were no major incidents on the course.
Staggered starts continued with riders self-seeding into a slow or quick group of riders. and officials saying it had been working well to condense the finish times.
Almost 90 riders set off just after 4.45pm on Saturday afternoon, while a further 45 launched about 15 minutes later.
Bega teen Sebastian Weber was the winner of the new bike courtesy of Tathra Beach and Bike.
The officials said the event is not a race, the prize is awarded by a random draw at the finish of the ride.
