With social media swamped with 10-year-old photos this week, how could we pass up the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane.

The 10-year challenge looks to compare a selfie taken in 2009 with one taken now. We can’t offer selfies, but reckon a front page is just as engaging.
Use the slider below to compare the pages from January 16 2009 and January 18 2019.
Funnily enough the Bega District News published on January 16, 2009, carries front page page pointers to a Candelo Show feature and Tathra Wharf to Waves content.
Ten years on and the more things change the more they stay the same.
(Be sure to grab your copy of today’s BDN for the Candelo Show 2019 feature and previews to Sunday’s Wharf to Waves!)
In 2009 it was all about beating the heat with Sharon George in the pool and a visit from newly appointed NSW Governor Marie Bashir.
Ten years later and the weather was definitely making news, just not necessarily on the front page where we instead had regional issues with poor Telstra coverage, and a Bega woman winning a $25,000 wedding with her lesbian partner in Canberra’s National Gallery (try writing that one 10 years ago...)
On the back page it was all Tathra Wharf to Waves, then and now – although some of those faces may have changed a little over the past decade!
Just for fun we’ve also included a look back at the District Diary social page of 2009, with perhaps some familiar faces included.
The ad at bottom left is also worth a look given developments in Eden this week…
