Club officials said the weather had been largely unpredictable, while thunderstorms also kept many fishers at bay.
However, there have been some good reports from those who braved the conditions and further north there were reports of at least 10 striped marlin tagged off Bermagui near the zig.
With the East Australian Current moving ever southwards good marlin should be appearing off Merimbula and Eden.
Ocean flathead both sand and tiger are on the chew, mainly southeast of Turingal Headland at 22-24 fathoms.
Patches of good fish can also be found in Merimbula Bay, off Tura Headland, Bournda Island, and Tathra, try 20-22 Fathoms.
Lovely snapper and Morwong are being reported off North Head, Lennards Island, Haycock, Horseshoe and Long Point.
The best time is dawn and dusk matching a turn of tide. Baits include squid and pilchards.
Gummy shark in the 4-6kg range are about in the Horseshoe reef area, anchoring with burley really helps. Good baits are salmon and slimy mackerel.
There is no shortage of slimy mackerel at the artificial reefs, which are now really firing up just over three months since they were positioned. Salmon off the beaches and headlands remain patchy.
Large drummer and luderick are have been returned from Tura Headland. Best time is just before high tide. At the Tathra Wharf large kingfish remain on the prowl and at the Merimbula Fishing Platform large luderick and calamari squid are back and some large ones landed.
Fish in the Merimbula Lake remain active. Dusky flathead, bream, tailor, trevally and whiting are available both in the channel and in the top lake. Good tailor and salmon are prolific at Pambula Lake. The Bega River remains closed and continues to fish well at Mogareeka. Try the rock wall near the launching ramp for bream, estuary perch and dusky flathead. Some magnificent whiting are reported off the flats to the SW of the bridge. Nippers and worms as well as poppers are working.
The clubhouse in Spencer Park will be open from 6.30pm on Friday and visitors to the area are very welcome. Head along for the fishing report, ambience, friendship and lovely views and bar.
