Initially, the program was developed in response to the Tathra and district bushfire of March 2018.
Round one was finalised for distribution in December and will assist communities to link back into their support networks, tell their stories and build a greater sense of future safety and resilience.
Following the Yankees Gap bushfire in August/September 2018, the scope of round two was broadened.
Now bushfire-affected applicants from Tathra, Vimy Ridge, Reedy Swamp, Dr George Mountain, Tanja, Kalaru, Yankees Gap, Numbugga and Brogo areas can apply for grants.

“Even though the needs of the residents and communities in these regions are quite different, we welcome applications from all areas and really see the value in these communities approaching recovery in their own unique ways,” council’s manager community connections Kristina Brenner said.
“Round two is intended to assist with activities and events that foster social cohesion, resilience and wellbeing in residents and groups within these locations.”
The round two grant distribution is valued at $36,973. Non-incorporated groups may apply for up to $1000 and incorporated groups may apply for up to $5000.
