The new date set for the festival, the follow-up to the event that raised $160,000 to support families affected by the 2018 bushfire in Tathra and its district, is November 30.
Event director Darren Jones said the change was made to find the right time to hold the festival each year.
“Everyone wants to jam everything in the first four months of the year,” he said.
“We wanted to really cement the date in the calendar for every year and November seemed quite free.
“It just made sense.”
By moving the festival further back in the year, he said, it also gave the Cobargo Folk Festival and the Four Winds Festival breathing space.
There were a couple of other issues such as “minor stuff with bands” which the festival had to adapt to, but Mr Jones said he believed it had worked out well in the end.
Due to the date change, two extra popular artists were added to the bill: Mark Seymour and the Undertow – with Mr Jones saying half of their set was Hunters and Collectors classics – as well as Bachelor Girl.
The only artist unable to make the date in November was Kate Ceberano.
Mr Jones said ticket sales were going well and existing tickets were transferable from the April date to the new date in November.
If anyone who has already purchased a ticket cannot make the new date, they can contact the festival and obtain a refund.
“If you have a ticket and can’t make it, just contact us,” Mr Jones said.
He thanked people for their patience and said he wanted festival-goers to come and have a good day at the event.
“There’s a lot of work ahead, but this is what I do and I love it,” he said.
“It’s not nearly as daunting as [the first Band Together in] Tathra, as I’ve got seven months rather than seven weeks!”
Band 2Gether will feature 20 artists across three stages including Mark Seymour and the Undertow, Bachelor Girl, Killing Heidi, Mental As Anything, Jack Biilmann, Melanie Horsnell, The Figmentz, Matt Glass and the Loose Cannons, as well as Arc Supergroup which features members of Powderfinger, Spiderbait, You Am I and Jet.
It will be held on November 30, 2019 at the Wolumla Recreation Grounds, Wolumla. Tickets are $89 adults, $169 VIP, $35 students and children under 12 are free.
