The fencing had been put in place to ensure public safety was maintained while the repair work was scoped.
On social media council stated bollards had been installed as a replacement, but it remained a serious concern people would willingly remove a hazard barrier, especially from an unlit rural road.
Pictures posted to council’s social media account showed the fencing in place and what staff found when visiting the site on Monday, January 14.
Council said motorists were urged to display caution when using the road until the repairs were completed.
