But the first to be welcomed into Bega’s hospital for 2019 was Lilah Storm Bower-Scott.
She came into the world weighing 3.88kg at 4.19pm on Tuesday, January 8, just coming in front of another baby who was born at the hospital later that day.
On Wednesday, her mother and father Shakira Taylor and Declan Bower-Scott said they were excited and happy to be new parents.
“It’s pretty overwhelming, it doesn’t really feel real yet,” Ms Taylor said.
Lilah’s father was asked what it was like to hold her for the first time.
“It was pretty emotional, an amazing feeling but,” Mr Bower-Scott said.
While she is the first child of the couple, who are both 20 years old, they do have plans to bring her brothers or sisters one day.
They do have some dreams for what will happen in their daughter’s life.
“I just hope that she’s happy and that she’s loved,” Ms Taylor said.
“I hope she has a happy, healthy life,” Mr Bower-Scott added.
The couple, who live in Kalaru, both grew up in the Bega Valley and plan on staying in the region to raise Lilah in the countryside.
