Pete Wild is loading the piano into the old horse float and towing it to the seaside town for a week of Honkytonk music.
David Hewitt, the rhinestone cowboy on drums, has been polishing off the old kit and licks from his time in the Spaghetti Western Orchestra.
The Sundowners will perform their own unique blend of originals in this style featuring Gleny Rae on violin and accordion.
“Honkytonk is a form of music that originates in bars of southern parts of the United States and is about a fun close connection with musicians,” band leader Sam Martin said.
Rae is a highly-respected musician in the Australian music scene both as a writer of her own material and as an accomplished side-woman.
She has toured and performed in venues throughout Australia and is an advocate for performing in the outback.
Martin met Rae at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2001 where she invited him to tour with her band The Toe Sucking Cowgirls, essentially kick starting his career in the music industry.
Expect daily surprises with new music and plethora of talented special guests.
The Sundowners present a fun alternative to staying at home and doing dishes, get on out and indulge in free live music.
They will perform every day at the Tathra Hotel, Tathra from Thursday, January 3 to Wednesday, January 9 from 4.30pm till 7.30pm.
