The Bega High School student, who has wrapped up Year 12 this year, achieved the ranking for Hospitality.
“I wasn’t really expecting that, so it’s pretty cool!” she said.
“I was pretty shocked, I didn’t think I’d get that!”
Not only did the Tathra resident make the high score on that subject, she also received an ATAR of 95.2.
“It feels pretty good,” Ms Murdoch laughed.
“I worked pretty hard I think, and it’s paid off.”
The HSC exams were not as difficult as she thought they would be, as she said the trial exams helped prepare her for them.
But she did have some thoughts on the HSC in general.
“I think it probably could be less stressful, but I sort of like it as is, as I probably did better in the exams than I did in the assignments,” she said.
“I think it’s a really stressful time though, so I think there’s probably an easier way to do it.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to were able to get into the course they wanted to do, so that’s all that really matters.”
Ms Murdoch plans to have a gap year, where she will work and save for travelling, before going to university the year after at either Sydney or Wollongong to study teaching.
