While clubhouse design may not be of interest to all sports fans, a brand new 5000 Watt Tesla Powerwall battery powering Tathra’s Lawrence Park sportsground will help not only save money but also help the environment.
Clean Energy for Eternity’s Prue Kelly said she’s excited to see the completion of the project, which saw the organisation contribute $12,000 from the proceeds of electricity sales from its Tathra solar farm.
A joint fundraising initiative between the organisation and the Tathra Sea Eagles Football Club helped the project, which also included the installation of solar panels, reach completion before the 2019 football season.
Club secretary Dave Howard said he’s “rapt” at being able to reduce not only the club’s costs but also those uncured by Bega Valley Shire Council.
“We’ve been speaking to some high-up people in the AFL who say it is the first community driven renewable energy project they’ve seen.” he said.
