World AIDS Day film screening
Bega Valley Shire Library, ACON and Southern NSW Local Health District invite you to a special screening of BPM to mark World AIDS Day in Bega.
Winner of over 20 international film awards, including the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival, BPM (Beats Per Minute) is the remarkable new film from Robin Campillo (They Came Back, Eastern Boys).
In Paris in the early 1990s, a group of activists goes to battle for those stricken with HIV/AIDS, taking on sluggish government agencies and major pharmaceutical companies in bold, invasive actions. The organization is ACT UP, and its members, many of them gay and HIV-positive, embrace their mission with a literal life-or-death urgency.
Amid rallies, protests, fierce debates and ecstatic dance parties, the newcomer Nathan falls in love with Sean, the group's radical firebrand, and their passion sparks against the shadow of mortality as the activists fight for a breakthrough.
Screening and synopsis courtesy of Madman Entertainment. BPM is rated MA15+. When: 3pm, Saturday, December 1. Where: Funhouse Studio, 3 Hill St, Bega. Cost: Gold coin donation to the Red Ribbon Appeal. RSVP: John Casey email jcasey@acon.org.au or phone 0437 651 752.
Help the Women’s Resource Centre

We run a food redistribution program with food donated from Coles and Woolworths. We have computers with internet access, a washing machine and shower available for use. There is a small Op Shop with all clothing only costing $1. We also run a variety of workshops and women are welcome to drop in for a cuppa.

Suzie is AWL’s Pet of the Week
Suzie is a two-year-old medium sized cross breed who needs a new home. She has been in a family with preschool aged children and loves them doting on her.
She is house trained, gentle and obedient. She does have a history of escaping so she will need very secure fencing, preferably colour-bond because she can climb wire fencing.
She mixes well with other dogs and has also been with a variety of small pets and animals. Call Animal Welfare League FSC Branch on 0400372609.
