Mr Constance took to Twitter on Wednesday, November 21, to hit back at claims from former Labor advisor Bruce Hawker that he was “deserting the NSW Coalition”.
“Stop peddling your lies and spin,” Mr Constance wrote. “I’m running for Bega. Things must be getting really desperate over at Sussex Street.”
However, in NSW Parliament on Wednesday afternoon, Mr Constance did not explicitly deny allegations from Labor he would run for pre-selection for the Liberal Party in the federal seat of Gilmore.
“I’ll miss you too” was his response to the claims.
Shortly after, Mr Constance took to social media once again saying he would be making an “important statement in NSW Parliament about (his) 16 years delivering for Bega”.
In a press release Shadow Labor Treasurer Ryan Park claimed Mr Constance was “abandoning (NSW Premier) Gladys Berejiklian on election eve”.
“Pre-recorded ‘robocalls’ to the Gilmore electorate reveal that the Liberal Party is canvassing support for Andrew Constance,” Mr Park said.
