Josh and Naomi Shoobridge and their five children took delivery of a new Suzuki Vitara on Friday, their prize after a lucky hot chocolate from Merimbula Maccas revealed the winning ticket.
They were handed the keys and congratulated by Penny Malone from Merimbula and Bega McDonald’s, and Con Zurcas from Eden Motor Group.
“I feel incredibly lucky,” Mr Shoobridge said.
“I only bought a hot chocolate – well a couple actually.
“It’s one of those things you never hear of anyone actually winning!”
Ms Malone said it was “mind boggling” to have had the major prize winner found in the Bega Valley.
“Think of the number of drink containers and coffee cups distributed to McDonald’s all over Australia, and among them were only two winning tickets – it’s pretty amazing,” she said.
By sheer coincidence, the car was revealed to Naomi Shoobridge a few days early.
She is a teacher at Eden Marine High School and had ducked down the street for extra supplies for her cooking class when she saw a delivery truck outside the car yard.
A quick detour before the supermarket confirmed her happy thoughts with the beautiful turquoise Vitara on board.
Mr Zurcas said was over the moon to have local people in the local McDonald’s find the winning ticket.
“I’m stoked for them, they are lovely people,” he said.
