Tarra Volkswagen have jumped on board with the event, supporting a host of events within the region, providing a fantastic vehicle to engage the local golfing community and support a grass roots program which is open to participants of all demographics and playing abilities.
Moruya has already hosted its Scramble event, but Eden’s round is this Sunday and Pambula-Merimbula will stage its run on December 16, providing golfers the opportunity to participate in this fun and unique event.
The Volkswagen Scramble is played as a team’s Ambrose event under an innovative Scramble style elimination format. Teams of four players contest the local event staged at each participating golf club.
Officials said the Volkswagen tagline ‘More than a Car’ embodies the spirit of the Scramble, which had become so much more than just a golf tournament.
Volkswagen passenger vehicles general manager of marketing and product Ben Wilks is delighted with the new partnership and keen to support golf in Australia.
“As one of Australia’s favourite past times, our partnership with golf in Australia has always been an obvious one. Now, partnering with the PGA to offer the Volkswagen Scramble couldn’t be a better fit for us for countless reasons – not least of all the two of our most iconic models, after all, are the Golf and the Caddy,” Mr Wilks said.
“The Volkswagen brand prides itself on partnering with its dealerships within local communities, and the Volkswagen Scramble will provide the perfect conduit to create and enhance existing relationships.”
John and Gudrun Stylianou of Tarra Volkswagen said they were proud to represent Volkswagen to support the local Scramble rounds.
The pair said they were passionate about supporting sport events on the Far South Coast.
PGA Australia CEO Gavin Kirkman said “the Volkswagen Scramble is synonymous with local golfing communities around the country and we’re delighted we’ve been able to partner with a brand already heavily invested in local communities and keen to see grass-roots golf grow,”
The winning teams from each local event progress to one of the Regional Finals held around Australia in March 2019. Each team will be joined by their club professional in the regional finals.
Regional Final winners then advance to the Volkswagen Scramble Championship Final held in May 2019 at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort & Twin Waters Golf Club on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
