Festival committee chair Mal Barnes said with events from Bermagui to Pambula the festival will be the biggest yet.
“We want everyone in the shire to showcase themselves,” he said.
Mr Barnes created the festival after being inspired by the Shirley Hannan National Portrait Award.
“It is about showcasing creativity, not just about portraiture,” he said.
“Faces are the community.”
School children from across the Bega Valley visited the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre on Monday to view their own portraits now on show for the wider public to enjoy.
Mr Barnes said this year’s event will be hosted in Cobargo, Quaama, Pambula, Bega and Bermagui.
The festival launch was held at the civic centre on Friday, and will run for two weeks.
Mr Barnes said a light show in Bega’s Littleton Gardens on Friday, November 16 is a must see.
