Special tributes marking the centenary of the Armistice that ended the First World War (1914–18) will take place across the shire this Sunday, November 11.

Bega
10.00am, The public are invited to muster at Club Bega on Gipps Street
10.25am, The march begins down Carp Street towards the Bega Soldiers Memorial Gates where the service will be conducted.
11.00am, The service will commence at the Bega War Memorial on Carp Street. After the service, the Bega Lions Club will provide a BBQ lunch in the memorial precinct.
If any church groups or service groups would like to join the march please notify the parade commander Warrick Otton on arrival.
Members of the Bemboka 7th Light Horse Troop will be attending the march together for the first time on November 11 to mark Armistice Day.
Bermagui
The Bermagui RSL Sub-branch will conduct a commemorative service at the Bermagui War Memorial on Lamont Street at 10.45 am.
One minute of silence will be held at 11am sharp.
Members of the community are asked to attend the commemorate service in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.
Tathra
Tathra residents will assemble at the flagpole at 10.20am.
The flag will lower to half mast and the bugles sound the last post after one minutes silence at 11am sharp.
The community is urged to attend this memorable service.
Bemboka
Our service of commemoration at Bemboka that day will start at 10.30 am
We also have a new flag pole which has been kindly donated to us by the Merimbula RSL Sub Branch and erected by the Bega Valley Shire Council. The service will commence with the dedication of the new flagpole and the best way to dedicate a flag pole is to fly a flag on it.
All are welcome to come and take part in Remembering the centenary of this important day in our history.
Merimbula
Merimbula RSL Sub-branch encourage the whole community to attend the special service and observe one minute’s silence at 11am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.
9.30am, Bowls room will be open for the remembrance day display from six local schools. (Tea coffee scones and jam will be served until the service starts about 10.30am)
10.30am, Down at the Beach St Memorial music from that era will be played and the laying of poppies
11.00am, The service will commence at the Beach St Memorial
11.10am, Vintage Aircraft fly over, service continues
12.00pm, In the bowls room, Soup and Damper will be served.
2.00pm, Remembrance day display will draw to a close.
7.05pm, Town crier Alan Moyse will perform a specially written proclamation ‘Cry for Peace Around the World’ at the Beach Street Memorial. Mr Moyse will be the first town crier of the Bega Valley to join more than 140 town criers from around the world to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice.
Eden
The Eden RSL sub-branch will hold the annual service at the memorial on Calle Calle street commencing at 10.45am.
One minute silence to remember the fallen at 11am will be followed by wreath laying and the singing of the national anthem.
Bombala
Bombala’s Remembrance Day commemorations start at 11am on Saturday at the Bombala Cenotaph with a prayer, followed by a prologue by president of the Bombala RSL sub branch, Rob Letts.
Wreaths will be laid by community groups after which an address will follow by a local student.
A minutes silence will be observed before two versus of The Ode will be read by participating school students.
The Bombala Rotary and Community Choir will lead the singing of the National Anthem.
Delegate
In Delegate the Remembrance Day commemoration begins at 10.40am at the Delegate Cenotaph with guests asked to arrive 10 minutes early at 10.30am.
Delegate RSL sub branch president, Phil Pipe will lead the proceedings.
Mr Pope will also give a quick talk about the three local men that were in the Australian Light Horse during the Battle of Beersheba 100 years ago.
Delegate Public School students will attend the Remembrance Day Service with school leaders doing the readings.
The public are invited to lay wreaths at the Delegate Cenotaph.
The Delegate Hotel and Delegate Cafe will be open for drink and food.
Bungarby
The Bungarby Remembrance Day Service, held by Rev Jenni Roberts starts at 10.40am with guests asked to arrive by 10.30am.
A minutes silence will be observed at 11am.
The Bungarby service will be held around the monument unless weather is inclement and then the service will be in the Bungarby Memorial Hall.
In the main room of the Bungarby Hall hangs a display of photos and information relating to the Bungarby and district WWI men.
