One of the many that helped those at the showground was Woolworths, who provided 24 pallets of food, water and supplies that totalled over $30,000. The operation came together quickly, with Woolies organising a semitrailer to take supplies to Bega overnight.
Due to the supermarket giant’s generosity, on Thursday, October 25, the Bega Lions Club presented a plaque to members of Bega Woolworths to thank them for their assistance following the March 18 fire.
On the day, Woolworths’ Hamish Payne thanked the Lions for the recognition.
“It was a big team effort,” he said.
