The bushfire started near Bemboka on August 15 and burned for over a month, covering 20,000ha and destroying four homes and damaging one other.
“More than 130 homes in the vicinity of the fire were protected due to the great work of the hundreds of firefighters who battled this fire,” NSW RFS Inspector Ben Shepherd said.

He said while he could not provide a breakdown of the costs of the bushfire it could be noted given its remote location, there was a strong reliance on aviation resources to insert and withdraw remote area firefighters and provide them the necessary water bombing support for this work.
At the height of the fire on August 15 there were more than 100 firefighters in 30 firetrucks being supported by five aircraft.
Over the next month approximately 50 firefighters worked on the fireground each day support by around six aircraft.
The number of aircraft and firefighters increased when the fire broke containment on September 15 when once again more than 100 firefighters worked across the fireground.
Inspector Shepherd said while the NSW RFS investigation into the fire had concluded, the report had been handed to police.
“NSW Police have indicated that a further investigation will take place so it would be inappropriate for us to make further comment at this time,” he said.
