The Woolworths Cricket Blast School Cup visited four locations of the Sapphire Coast over four days which gave boys and girls the chance to have a bat and a bowl and a tonne of fun.
“It is all about kids getting a taste of cricket in this version before they look at joining a club,” South Coast development manager Greg Richards-Riches said.
“For many of the younger students this is their first taste of cricket, they are likely to have fun today and then look to play.”
Cricket NSW development officers were pleased to see such a big turnout to each gala day.
On Thursday, October 19, Pambula, Merimbula and Lumen Christi took to Berrambool Oval for a cracking day in the sunshine.
“It is great to see so many here, there are 280 kids on the field,” Charles Aggenbach of Cricket NSW said.
“It is so good to see the girls getting into it too.
He then whispered “three quarters of them are better than the boys.”
Eden High School students volunteered their time as referees on the day, joining in the fun where they could.
