Since Teacher - a memoir about how the current system has let down children, parents and broken dedicated teachers - was released at the end of June it has sold 10,000 copies.
In the Bega bookshop Candelo Books, it is third on the list of their bestselling books from the last 10 years.
“It feels extraordinary,” Ms Stroud said.
“Writing is a very lonely sport.
“You wonder if these pages will ever see the light of day.
“It’s a dream come true that lots of people will read these words you very carefully arranged on the page.”
The Merimbula resident said writing was a very tough way to make a living, so we should support local authors in our community.
“My story for me is one of falling down,” Ms Stroud said.
“When you look and those around you who know you well lift you up by buying your book, it is so uplifting, it is so moving because it’s your local community and they backed you.
“It means a great deal, probably more than that person buying the book will ever know.”
