The People’s Cup will visit the region on Thursday, September 27 and Friday, September 28 and participate in a number of community activities.
This will include going whale watching on the Eden Cat Balou and visiting the Bega Cheese factory.
The iconic trophy will also attend a special Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour dinner at Tathra Beach Bowling Club.
Sapphire Coast Turf Club sponsorship and marketing manager Jess Ryan said being part of the tour would be an unforgettable experience.
“We are really looking forward to being a part of the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour and showing off our beautiful Sapphire Coast,” she said.
Melbourne Cup winning jockey Wayne Harris and celebrated racing writer Keith Hillier will also join in the celebrations and share their unique Lexus Melbourne Cup story with the community.
“The Lexus Melbourne Cup holds a special place in many people’s hearts and it is only fitting we take the iconic three-handled cup on a journey to meet the people who share in our love for the great race,” Victoria Racing Club (VRC) chief executive officer Neil Wilson said.
He said the club looked forward to bringing the cup to the Sapphire Coast.
The Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour began its journey in the United Kingdom and Ireland in July and will travel to a record 37 destinations across the globe, before returning to Flemington for “the race that stops a nation” on the first Tuesday in November.
Since its inaugural year in 2003, the tour has travelled more than half a million kilometres and visited more than 400 regional, rural and metropolitan destinations.
