Spokeswoman Amy Wels said the conditions made “for an eventful weekend” adding that gusts were so strong occassionally “goals tipped and slid across the fields.
“It really was a credit to all teams, officials and spectators that the day went forward despite the trying conditions.”
The results were a little more tilted than the close competition in previous rounds as Elders opened the day with a 5-0 result over Tathra in the C grade outing.
Then the B grade grand handed Tathra more hurt with another 5-0 result.
The men’s and ladies competition settled despite the winds increasing and the Pambula outfit conjured a 4-3 result over the Tathra men’s.
In A grade ladies play, United advanced to the grand final with a 2-1 win over Tathra.
The results mean the draw for Saturday’s grand final have been finalised with matches to run at the Bega Valley Fields from 10am.
In the C grade Elders will face off with the Grand Stars.
Elders B then clash with Grand in the B grade from 11.30am.
At 1.15pm the A women’s clash will see Elders taking on United for the crown.
Then, the headline men’s game will see Pambula men’s taking on the Magpies for the premiership at 3pm.
Officials said the teams who had finished in first and second following the regular season had made the grand final, so matches should be tight.
“It will be a repeat across all grades from last years grand finals besides from the B Grade match, where it is Grand B's first appearance in a Grand Final,” Ms Wels said.
“All games look to be very tight with no clear winners guaranteed. Particularly the b grade match with only one point separating the teams coming into the finals.”
Officials thanked the umpires who were helping make the season possible.
The association is seeking a couple of helpers for the canteen on Saturday, so if you are able to lend a hand officials would love to hear from you on the day.
“We thank everyone who has been involved throughout the season and it will be great if everyone - playing or not - wants to come see and enjoy competitive, passionate and nail biting games.”
Officials also said there was plenty of passion in the competition, but urged players and spectators to have good sportsmanship on the day.
Spectators are more than welcome with amenities, a full canteen and coffee van at the Bega Valley Fields on Saturday.
For returning and new players, nominations for the indoor season are open, but will close on Saturday.
Players in all grades are urged to make their own teams with A grade on Mondays, B and C grade Tuesday and A reserve on Wednesdays.
