More than two years after a $170,000 children’s playground was installed, Bega Park is set to host a toilet block and a sheltered barbecue area.
Bega MP Andrew Constance says the state government will committed $126,000 to the project, which will be constructed by Bega Valley Shire Council.

“This is better than announcing $1billion for Sydney trains,” Mr Constance said after making the announcement on Friday.
The move will please regular visitors to the park, who have become accustomed to visiting friends houses, driving to public toilets and even stopping in at work when a toilet is needed.
“We come here every Friday, and every five minutes a kid wants to go to the toilet,” mother Louise Smith said.
“You constantly have to put kids in the car to travel to go and have a poo.”
Ms Smith and her friends who also bring their own portable gas cooker to the park, said they are excited the park will also have a barbecue area installed.
Bega mother Kirsty Umbers has played an active role in lobbying for the facilities, and was all smiles when Mr Constance made the announcement on Friday afternoon during a tour of the region.
The funds will come from the state government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund, Mr Constance said.
In 2016, council’s director of community, relations and leisure Anthony Basford said council was considering plans to create a dual function toilet block that would serve the Bega Pool and Bega Park.
It is not yet known when construction of the facilities will begin.
During his visit Mr Constance also announced kitchen facilities at Brogo, Candelo, Rocky Hall, Tarraganda and Wyndham community halls will also be upgraded.
