The Breakers’ first hit out was the under 14s game against the Pambula Panthers. The Breakers have only lost one game all season in this age group, and boast some of the best players on the South Coast.
The contest stayed close for much of the first half, but the Breakers still built a handy lead thanks to the quality in their side.
The Panthers struggled to generate any chances in their forward 50, and were held to only one goal in the first three quarters of the match.
Bermagui started resting players in the fourth quarter, and the Panthers took advantage with two last-quarter goals. It wasn’t enough though, as the Breakers ran out with a 9.10 (64) to 3.4 (22) victory.
The Breakers also took out the under 16s major semi final in an upset win over the Narooma Lions.
The Lions had more of the support from the local crowd, but it was clear the Breakers were up for the contest from an early stage.
Bermagui dominated possession and territory in the first half, and skipped out to a handy four-goal lead at the main break.
The third quarter was more of the same, as the home side struggled with the Breakers run and spread.
Another three goals to the Breakers gave them a seven-goal lead at the final change.
Narooma started the last quarter perfectly, with a goal inside the first minute. However, Bermagui hit back less than two minutes later to effectively end the contest.
The Lions only managed one more goal for the match, as the Breakers recorded a 9.7 (61) to 3.6 (24) victory.
