Bega’s favourite daughter was in town last week to take delivery of the very first in a line of Kezie Apps Signature series cars – a brand new Rav4.
“I can’t even put it into words,” Kezie beamed. “I was doing a little happy dance; it’s crazy to think there will be cars with my signature on them, I’m still pinching myself.”
The range will feature small, midsize and larger SUV models with accessory packs that reflect the needs of a person on the go, like Kezie has been for the past three years – travelling to the Illawarra for her rep and club duties.
“I have done a few kilometres in Mum’s Corolla,” she says with a laugh. “I got up to about 150,000ks and pinched it off her – she gave me the car.”
“I’m fairly tall and I had a lot of gear, so it got pretty cramped in the little hatch-back – when I’m travelling the boot and half the back seat was full.”
With that experience in mind, Kezie said the initial plans for the series would provide a balance between creature comforts and utility for people on the move.
Key upgrades included sat-nav as the Australian forward said getting around on Google Maps off her phone was not ideal.
“In the boot I made sure there is a protective mat so when you’ve got your footy boots or been to the beach it should be easier to clean – and floor mats all round,” Kezie said.
“Tinted windows was another thing because on long drives I always get burnt arms – well one arm like a truckie,” she says with a laugh.
Bega Valley Motors salesman Michael Sturgess helped cement the deal.
“He’s a footy head and he has been following my career, he’s got two daughters of his own – I guess I am a role model now, but I’d like to think a positive role model for the next generation of girls and boys.”
She has been in talks with Bega Valley Motors for “a while now” with the plans being refined even now for the limited edition cars.
Kezie said it was a delight to become an ambassador for the motor group as it was a local business in the Valley she still calls home.
“I’m really happy and proud that Bega Valley Motors are a local dealership; it gives me another reason to come home and being an ambassador for them is more special to me because it’s here.”
The series will officially launch soon and Kezie is happy to be a part of it.
“I’m hoping to help them out with their business as much as they’re helping me with my travel.”
