Their concert Signs and Wonders will feature songs that share the stories of the children and the hope they have because of God’s love.

Since 1994, Watoto Children’s Choirs have traveled the world sharing the plight of Africa’s orphaned children.

Each child in the choir has suffered the loss of one or both of their parents, but they have now been rescued.

They live in a Watoto village or a neighbouring community where they are supported by Watoto’s Neighborhood project.

Watoto is a holistic child-care solution initiated to serve the dire needs of the people of Africa.

Thirteen-year-old Ivan Masembe was excited to be part of the Watoto Children’s Choir. Before he joined Watoto, his father had abandoned their family, leaving his unemployed mother without support.

Through the Watoto Neighbourhood project, his mother was also equipped with practical skills to help support herself and her family.

Ivan was also offered the opportunity to be educated at a Watoto school.

“Since joining Watoto they have taught me how to respect people, work with others, and help my mother,” he said.  

“While I’m on the road with the choir, I am going to share the story of the miracles that Jesus has done in my life, and I hope it will help people to know that, in Christ, there is nothing to fear.” 

The choirs have performed before presidents and royalty in the White House, Buckingham Palace, the United Nations and many other national parliaments.

The choir will perform on Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26 hosted by the Sapphire Coast Anglican College (SCAC) and Resonate Church.

These are free concerts, however organisers would appreciate a donation at each concert.

It starts on Saturday at 5.30pm with pre-show entertainment, a barbecue, coffee and cakes available, while Sunday’s show is from 10am with morning tea after the concert.

Both concerts are to be held at SCAC’s Theatre 2, on Max Slater Drive, Bega.
