Bemboka Community Centre committee members said 10 volunteers arrived at short notice on Thursday morning to help make over 60 sandwiches, homemade scones and cakes for the crews.
“We will easily feed 40 firies for lunch at the Bemboka fire shed,” the committee said.
Fresh produce was brought in from Bega on Thursday morning, and bread was donated by the Bemboka Pie Shop.
The community is set to continue the kind gesture as firefighters continue to battle the bushfire.
“We also plan to get together Friday morning, and several ladies will be baking on Thursday night,” the committee said.
“We’re thankful for the effort the fire brigades have put in, and we’ve seen about eight more trucks arrive this morning.”
The committee said anyone wanting to help can contact Karen at the Bemboka Hotel.
