The West Coast outfit returned the favour 63-57 to the Giants team who pinched the minor premiership last weekend with a three-point win.
Fever won the opening centre, and immediately grabbed the lead. Sam Poolman (GK) won an impressive intercept, but Fever shooter Jhaniele Fowler’s strength under the ring was an asset to her side.
The Giants’ efforts to chase down the deficit by capitalising on turnovers was largely interrupted by a huge defensive effort from the away side to trail by eight at the first break.
The Giants made some key position shifts in the second quarter after the Fever had continued to build a lead early.
The move was effective almost immediately, with Manu’a winning an incredible tip to clear the ball safely out of the Fever circle. Another tip from Guthrie gave the Giants another turnover and the momentum swayed to trail 27-30 at half-time.
However, the Fever fired back in the third, but some quick scoring opportunities from Jo Harten kept the Giants in the race and even closed the gap as the home team finished the third period just one point shy 44-45.
Unfortunately, the Fever fired a 100 per cent hit rate in the final quarter to rally a late win 63-57.
Pettitt and the Giants will now have to take the extra steop of contesting the Sunshine Coast Lightning in the preliminary final this weekend in the hopes of securing a grand final ticket and a rematch with the Fever.
