Driver trapped for hours after truck veers off Princes Hwy near Genoa

A 45 year old truck driver is lucky to be alive after the truck he was driving veered off the road plunging into bushland around 1.30am on Monday morning, August 13. 

The man was trapped, conscious, in his vehicle for about three hours before  a passerby spotted the incident and alerted emergency services to the scene around 4.45am.

Police said the B-double milk tanker was travelling south on the Princes Hwy near Genoa. There was no other vehicle involved. 

Emergency services cut the driver out of the truck cabin. He was treated at the scene by paramedics. Police said the man had sustained head and leg injuries and was airlifted to Canberra Hospital. 

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
