On Friday, August 3, 21 cafes took part in the Cafe Smart campaign, where $1 from every coffee sold was donated back into the local community to help fund homeless services.
Cafe Smart’s Danielle Collins popped in and photographed every cafe taking part in the fundraiser. She said the support for this year’s campaign was “overwhelming” and a reflection of the community’s big heart.
Money raised throughout the day stays 100 per cent local. Funds raised on the Sapphire Coast over the past two years have been utilised to purchase two caravans as temporary safe housing for people escaping domestic violence in the Valley. Financial donations have also contributed to the running of the Sapphire Community Pantry.
A proportion of this year’s funds will be going towards a “Grease and Oil Change”, a free men’s health initiative.
