The Chicks were forced to play in an elimination final thanks to their loss to the Eden Tigerettes last weekend, while the Fillies played their way in with a win over the Batemans Bay Tigerettes.
The opening five minutes of the match were an arm-wrestle, but the Chicks quickly picked up momentum through some strong running.
The Fillies’ line broke in the seventh minute when Madison Parbery went straight through off a short ball. The Chicks’ fullback had enough speed to win the race to the corner.
The Chicks were in again just three minutes later as Ali Ringland raced through a gap to score. Joccoaa Rogers converted to give Bega a 10-0 lead.
The Fillies started to work their way back into the game from that point, and Tenielle Von Der Burg got them on the board with a converted try.
The Fillies looked set to go into the break down by four, but a very late from Jacinta Dummett gave the Chicks a 16-6 lead at half time.
The Fillies struck first in the second half through Hayley Kemp, giving them a sniff of an upset at 16-12.
However, the Chicks hit right-back through Madison Parbery’s second try, and when Jacinta Dummett also scored a double, the Sharks led 26-12 with less than 10 minutes to play.
The Fillies scored a late try through Kirsty Patton to make the final score a respectable 26-18.
Bega will now play the Eden Tigerettes for the second time in three weeks in next weekend’s Preliminary Final.
