The Monaro Highway remains closed Thursday morning, July 19, following a multiple fatality crash at Michelago overnight.
Three people died following the two-vehicle collision.
Just before 11.30pm on Wednesday, July 18, emergency services were called to the Monaro Hwy at Michelago, approximately 38km south of Queanbeyan, following reports two vehicles had collided head-on.
As a result of the crash, one of the vehicles caught fire.
The driver and passenger of one vehicle died at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle also died at the scene.
A child was taken by paramedics to Canberra Hospital.
The ages of those involved are unknown at this stage.
Emergency services and NSW Police Crash Investigation Unit remain on site to investigate the cause of the crash.
Motorists are advised to delay their trip and stay away from the Monaro Highway via Michelago.
There is no forecast available at this stage as to when the highway will reopen.

Officers from Monaro Police District established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The Monaro Highway is closed in both directions and is likely to remain closed for a number of hours. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and check www.livetraffic.com for the latest information.
