Officials said they were excited for the return of the fun run after holding successful meets the past couple of years.
Earlybird registrations open from 9am on August 1 with three distances offered including the 10km main event, a 5km run/walk and a 2km kids’ dash.
There is an hour between the start times of the 10km and 5km events and officials said it had been quite common for some of the quick finishers to register for both runs.
“Meanwhile, the 2km kids’ dash is designed to encourage younger runners who cannot do the 5km or 10km yet and for those reasons there are special rules for this event,” a spokesperson for the Sapphire Coast Runners said.
“You must be of primary school age and attending primary school class or equivalent in the year of the event.”
Participants will not be able to run in the Bega Fun Run 5km or Bega Fun Run 10km in the same year they participate in a Bega Fun Run kids dash.
Some of the regular pace-setters are again expected to do well with Bega locals like Steph Auston, Steve Isles and Kyle Bourke all in good form.
Sapphire Coast Runners members are also eligible for discounts.
In other running news, both the Bega and Merimbula editions of the parkrun will celebrate anniversaries in September.
On September 8 the Bega parkrun will celebrate three years, while Merimbula has been running for five years on the 22nd.
