The competition was held by Katungal Medical Service’s as part of the organisation’s NAAIDOC Week 2018 celebrations.
The 20-year-old began painting in primary school, and her winning work had originally been completed to be hung inside Moruya District Hospital’s maternity ward.
This year’s theme is “Because of Her, We Can” and Ms Nye said the women most close to her are her biggest role models in life.
“My nan, who’s passed away, and now my mum, are my biggest role models. Because, without them there’s no way I would be here today,” she said.
