The trial of a Sydney magistrate on sex charges will be expedited after he waived his right to a committal hearing.

Graeme Curran briefly appeared in Downing Centre Local Court on Monday morning on nine counts of indecent assault against a young male.
Court documents reveal the alleged incidents occurred in Balmain, Sydney and Bega between 1981 and 1983.
Mr Curran, 68, appeared before acting magistrate Felicity Broughton, who presided over the court via audiovisual link from Victoria so as to dispel any apprehension of bias.
He will stand trial in the NSW District Court on July 6 after waiving his entitlement to a committal hearing in the lower court.
Committal proceedings are held for a magistrate to determine whether or not there is evidence against the accused person for the matter to go to trial.
Detectives from the Sex Crimes Squad laid charges against Mr Curran in October last year following an investigation by Strike Force Stantke.
He did not enter a plea and remains on bail, which prosecutors did not oppose.
The index of the brief of evidence was tendered before Ms Broughton, who also told Mr Curran he had the opportunity to apply for Legal Aid funding.
Mr Curran was sworn onto the bench in 2002 after practising as a barrister for 14 years and a solicitor since 1975.
A spokeswoman for Chief Magistrate Graeme Henson has previously said that Mr Curran had been suspended as a magistrate.
