A Plethora of Postcards will open at 5pm on June 22 and run to July 18 at Spiral Gallery, Bega.
There are 380 entries this year, with each one the size of a postcard and are about many different scenes.
“The materials range from ordinary paper to felt, timber and ceramics,” Spiral Gallery member Keith Coleman said.
“People have grasped onto a fairly simple idea and it just shows you what they can do.
“I think the standard is better this year than last year, it’s a lot more imaginative.
“Numbers are down slightly from last year, but that’s just the way it goes.”
Also, Balnhdhurr – A Lasting Impression will launch at the Bega Valley Regional Gallery, Bega at 6pm on Friday, June 22.
In remote Arnhem Land sits the Yirrkala Print Space, where for over 20 years the craft of printmaking has prospered.
This exhibition is a celebration of this print space, as well as an acknowledgement of the creative energies, talent and commitment of generations of Yolngu artists who have utilised and pushed the boundaries of such a medium to share significant cultural and historical stories.
With works from 50 artists, the exhibition includes historically significant prints such as the Berndt Etchings series on the Berndt Crayon Drawings of Yirrkala, produced by the artists’ predecessors in 1947.
Accompanying the exhibition is a free smartphone app that provides more engagement with the art as well as Yolgnu language and culture.
