Grandfather still critical

Thomas Winner remains in a critical condition in Canberra Hospital as doctors work to repair damage done during a violent altercation in Bega three weeks ago. The 71-year-old Bega man, formerly of Creewah, has been in hospital since June 1, when it was alleged he was stabbed by his grandson, Murray Deakin. Deakin has been charged with the murder of Gail Winner, 69, and Mick Horne, 54. Deakin also faces a charge of wounding with intent to murder.
