Robbed of the Alan Mitchell Cup by a last minute goal to Bega, the Braves will be looking to bounce back from their draw against Bega to do one better against the Tigers. 

The two clubs have plenty of history with Jayden Brown shifting to the Braves after being one of Wolumla’s best under 16s just a couple of seasons ago. 

Meanwhile, Maz O’Reilly was a long-serving Wolumla player, but his younger brothers Josh and Lochie will line-up for the Braves on Sunday. 

“It’s always a fun match against Bemboka, there are some former Wolumla boys in there and they always come and catch up at the pub afterwards,” a spokesperson for the Tigers said. 

Currently Wolumla sits atop the competition ladder in reserve grade, boasting the best defensive record of any club in the grade, dropping just six goals this season. 

However, the Braves are equal second in attacking stats, putting 17 goals into the net so far – just two behind the Tigers on that front. 

The Tigers are very structured in their attack and pose an ever-present threat for the Bemboka back line and will also mount pressure through the middle. 

Meanwhile, the Braves have one of their youngest line-ups to date with plenty of youthful enthusiasm on-field, while club veteran Mick O’Reilly serves as a grounding voice of wisdom to his young charges. 

The Braves will also host Wolumla in a ladies clash with the host club yet to find a win this season. 

Wolumla captain-coach Kirsty McPaul said her team was coming into the game after a long break and would look to reclaim some of the momentum they had in previous rounds. 

The Tigresses are sitting equal first with the Eden Killer Whales on the table and McPaul said they will be looking to consolidate their place. 

The Braves lost their last outing to the Bega She Devils, but were missing a number of key players from the game, they will hope to see a few players returning, while the bye round has helped rest up injured players. 

Expect the Tigresses to target the wings after working the ball through the middle against their hosts, while the Braves boast a versatile line-up and will try to best counter the Wolumla attack with their players in key positions. 

The ladies will kick off the two games at Colombo Park on Sunday with play from 12.40pm. 

The reserve grade clash takes the field at 2pm. 

The first grade Tigers have the bye and will be eager to get back on the park in round 8.
