It’s a slight drop on previous events, but officials said it was a fantastic result given the hardship Tathra had faced with the tracks also suffering during the fires.
About 60 souls braved a four-degree chill for the race briefing and start of the King Nelba 75km event on Sunday morning, while around 200 took on the 50k event with a 10am start.
Officials said it was an excellent field of riders, who would be pushed by some slight variations on the regular single track circuits.
“We like to keep it fresh for you,” an official said during the briefing.
Some of the regular attractions were back on course to keep morale high for riders including taiko drumming, bagpipes and a few cheeky gorillas handing out bananas.
A number of highly successful shorter-distance events were also held on Saturday with good numbers in attendance.
