Catches of snapper have improved off our local reefs including White Rock out from Kianinny, Long Point, Haycock, Lennards Island and Mowarry Point. Morwong also remain on the bite.
The scourge of oceanic green toads seems to have passed although Chinamen, pike and couta can still be problems.
Good ocean flathead can be taken off Long Point at about 24 fathoms and remain on the chew at the usual spots off Bithrys, White Rock, Bournda Island and Tura Headland.
Evening fishing at the northern end of Tura Beach near Tura Headland has seen some excellent Australian salmon catches with salted pilchards a useful bait. Night fishing off Merimbula Beach at the Sticks opposite the Airport is also seeing good salmon and large tailor.
At the Merimbula Fishing Platform there remain some excellent Calamari squid to be taken on slow sinking jigs. The annual luderick run seems to have expired although both luderick and drummer are available from the rocks at Merimbula, Short Point and Tura Headland. Usual baits are cabbage weed and cunjevoi. Rock fishing anglers are advised to wear lifejackets especially during heavy seas.
Pambula Lake remains hot with great trevally and tailor. In all the estuaries dusky flathead as well as trevally, tailor & bream can be found. Soft plastics or burley and pilchards are the way to go. Bega River is best for bream.
