Even though it was a chilly day with a southerly wind blowing across the course, $2000 was raised for the local branch of Can Assist.
CRABS president Graeme Struthers said he was incredibly pleased with the result, but couldn’t thank the men’s golf members enough for supplying the food and for their support on the day for this annual event.
After golf last Thursday, May 3, Mr Struthers presented a cheque for $2000 to Bermagui’s representatives of Can Assist, Lori and Gerry Hammerton.
Ms Hammerton thanked everyone sincerely for the donation and reminded everyone that all money will remain local to help people affected by cancer by way of practical financial assistance. Ms Hammerton said Can Assist pays pharmacy bills, accommodation costs, prosthesis and utility accounts and various other items.
Bermagui men’s golf club president Ron Lye responded by saying they were more than happy to help out knowing that every dollar raised remains in Bega Valley.
