When it comes to getting the news out, Jan Humphreys of the Pambula Merimbula CWA, is pretty good; so good that she was recognised at the recent CWA state conference in Armidale.

Jan was named the top publicist for a CWA branch in NSW during the conference which took place from April 30 to May 5.
Jan who has won the award twice before in 2008 and 2010, said she was surprised.
“When they called my name out I nearly fell through the floor. I was really thrilled especially as I thought some of the younger members might be more tech savvy,” Jan said.
Entrants had to submit all their newspaper cuttings for the 2017 year and report on their own website activity.

The award for promoting the CWA was judged by the Wagga Daily Advertiser.
Elizabeth Prosser of the Pambula Merimbula branch won a second place for her cultural book.
Jan was one of two delegates attending the conference, the other was Laraine Clarke, from the Pambula Merimbula branch.
The delegates voted on a number of motions including classifying feral deer as a pest to allow the legal culling. The successful motions will be taken to the state government.
The executive from CWA state office announced that it had donated $50,000 to the Tathra Bushfire Appeal. This followed donations from branches being sent to the state office.
