Mental as Anything headlined the gig, which was supported by musicians Scott McRae (E Street and The Life and Music of Stevie Wright and The Easy Beats Show), Tara Favell, Audrey Hernandez, Lincoln Piper and The Missing Linc trio.
Once expenses were met, the concert raised $4530.95 for the families impacted by the Tathra bush fires.
The gig was part of Mental as Anything’s Australian tour, and kept the crowd rocking with some of their hits - “Live it Up”, “The Nips are Getting Bigger”, “You're So Strong” and "Date with Destiny".
“We had a great night with more than 330 people attending the event,” organiser Lincoln Piper said.
“People really got behind it, purchasing raffle tickets, offering donations and bidding on the memorabilia, which put a few more dollars towards the tally.”
Crooked River Wines kindly played host to the event. The concert was moved to a larger venue once ticket sales exceeded the limit of the original location.
“Their support, along with all our sponsors who helped, minimised the cost of putting on such an amazing concert significantly,” Mr Piper said.
The money raised will go to the Bega Valley Shire Council Mayoral Appeal Fund.
Mr Piper was aiming to raise approximately $2000 for the appeal.
“To get more than double that figure is just wonderful,” he said.
“I know it’s nothing compared to what these people have lost in a matter of 60 minutes as fire ripped through and destroyed 70 homes, but it’s at least something towards helping them rebuild their lives in such devastating circumstances.”
So far, the Mayoral Appeal Fund has raised $1,019,000 to assist the Tathra community.
